The check was originally made out to the Ohio Treasurer BMV for $10, and the funds were intended to help a 41-year-old Dayton woman obtain a state-issued identification card, church officials told police.
After receiving a notification from their bank, the church found the check has been completely altered. The church first accused the woman of changing the amount of the check to $632. In addition the church said she changed who the check was made out to, from the Ohio BMV to herself and the date the check was issued from Dec. 6, 2019 to Jan. 6, 2020, the report states.
It was not immediately known if any charges were filed or pending against the woman.
