Woman accused of stabbing husband with scissors facing charges

SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield woman is facing charges after police say she stabbed her husband in the back with a pair of scissors.

Ashley Lee, 35, was arrested March 14 on felonious assault and domestic violence charges, according to Clark County Municipal Court records. The charges were in connection to an incident that happened that same day.

Police were called out to the 1800 block of S. Center Blvd. in Springfield after receiving reports of a man being stabbed. When officers got on scene, they found a man in the front seat of a grey minivan with a small puncture wound, about 1/2 inch across, in the center of his back, according to an affidavit and statement of facts.

The victim told officers he was stabbed by an unknown man in that was inside the van with him.

The victim was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center to have his injury evaluated and was later released.

A neighbor told officers that he heard a large verbal argument occurring next door and went outside to see what the problem was. When he got outside, the neighbor saw the victim walking toward the minivan with blood on the back of his shirt. The neighbor then called 911.

Officers knocked on the door of the victim’s house and spoke with Lee, who identified the victim as her husband. She told police the two had been arguing throughout the day. She stated he pushed her into a closed.

Lee had a hand injury and when police asked her about it, they claimed she stated that she stabbed the victim.

Lee was taken into custody on scene and transported to Police Headquarters.

She’s pleaded not guilty to both charges, according to court records.
