“We are aware that she passed away,” said Tipp City Police Chief Greg Adkins. “Detectives are working with the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office on this matter.”

Joshua Kerg, 32, was charged with felonious assault following the April incident.

“There’s a guy across the street from us that just beat the crap out of a lady and she’s laying in the grass,” a 911 caller said.

Kerg’s father also called 911.

“I’ve got a son. He’s having mental issues and just picked up my girlfriend and threw her out of the house,” Kerg’s father told 911 dispatchers in April. “He’s having issues with drugs and dope and everything else. I had the police out here twice yesterday.”

Police said the attack started as as argument and escalated.

“Once on the front lawn, Joshua proceeded to punch (the victim) with his bare fists until (the victim) was unconscious,” an incident report read.

Police said a witness was able to intervene in the attack and stop Kerg from punching the woman, the report said.

According to police, there is video of the attack and police said after seeing the video that “Joshua beat (the victim) after she was unconscious.”

After the attack, Kerg went into the garage and laid down. That’s where police ended up arresting him.

Kerg has a previous drug conviction from back in 2019.

Kerg is currently in the Miami County Jail.
