DAYTON — UPDATE @ 4:25 p.m. (Nov. 4):
Homicide detectives and traffic services units are jointly investigating a deadly pedestrian crash in Dayton Wednesday night after investigators uncovered the suspected driver and victim knew each other.
Traci Taylor, 49, of Dayton died at Miami Valley Hospital after she was hit by an SUV in the 1000 block of Linden Avenue around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday.
The driver of the SUV fled the scene after the crash, leaving behind two dogs in the car, investigators previously said.
The suspected driver, who was only identified as a woman, has been located and is in custody, Sgt. Gordon Cairns, Dayton police Traffic Services Supervisor said in an emailed statement.
Police did not release the name of the suspect because she has not been formally charged.
“This case is a joint investigation being conducted by detectives from the Dayton Police Department Traffic Services Unit and Homicide Unit. The initial investigation revealed that the suspect and victim in this case did know each other,” Cairns said.

The Montgomery County Coroner has identified a Dayton woman as the victim of a deadly pedestrian crash on Linden Avenue Wednesday night.
Traci Taylor, 49, was identified as the victim killed in the crash in the 1000 block of Linden Avenue around 8:20 p.m., Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger said in a media release Thursday afternoon.
Taylor’s official cause and manner of death are still under investigation, Harshbarger said.

Sgt. Eric Brown of the Dayton Police Department, told News Center 7 said the crash happened when an SUV came off a side street at a high rate of speed and hit the woman.
Taylor was taken to Miami Valley Hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The driver of the SUV, only identified as a female, abandoned her vehicle and ran from the scene. Police are searching for her, but do not have a description of her.

Brown said the suspect left two dogs at the scene, in the SUV.
The incident remains under investigation and additional details were not released.
