Woman stabbed over 30 times; family says she was trying to break up with boyfriend

DAYTON — A family feels like they are in a horror movie after an attacker stabbed their loved one more than 30 times.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11, Jocelyn House’s family has been at her side at the hospital since she was stabbed and taken to the hospital.

House’s older sister, Joleisha House, said Jocelyn has a bright and bubbly personality.

“We love to make food and spend time together. She loves music. She loves TV. She loves her babies to death,” Joleisha said.

Her loved ones are trying to stay strong for her as she lies in a hospital bed, unable to talk.

She has dozens of stab wounds to her neck, head, back and hands.

“She needs help, she needs help. There’s blood everywhere,” a 911 call from the day Jocelyn was stabbed states.

That call got police to a Dayton apartment where they found her bleeding on the floor.

The 911 caller said he found his brother Javon Owensby Sr. using a baseball bat to beat Jocelyn.

Investigators said a couple days later Owensby turned himself in.

Joleisha said Owensby and Jocelyn lived together and have two children.

“His intention was to kill my sister,” Joleisha said. “I need everybody to know that man is a monster.”

There were more than 5,300 reported domestic violence victims in Montgomery County last year, according to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

“He proceeded to try and take her life with his children sitting in front of him,” Joleisha said.

Jocelyn is expected to be in the hospital for weeks.

“She’s going to be recovering for a long time. They did say she would make a full recovery but she’ll never be the same,” she said.

Owensby’s bond is currently set at $200,000.
