XENIA — Correction: A previous version of this story incorrected stated the Xenia Community Schools Superintendent was named in the federal lawsuit as the person who took the microphone from the podium during a heated school board meeting. That was incorrect as the person named in the lawsuit is the school board president Mary Grech.
A woman is suing a Greene County school district claiming it violated her First Amendment rights.

Darbi Boddy claims the president of the school board Mary Grech ripped the microphone away from her while she was speaking at a board of education meeting in October, according to court documents.
As previously reported by News Center 7, Xenia Community Schools held a board meeting back in October after the district put the top of Critical Race Theory (CRT) on the agenda.
The meeting got heated.

News Center 7 reached out to Xenia Community Schools, and they sent us a statement.
“A lawsuit was filed against the Xenia Community School District Board of Education alleging a violation of the First Amendment rights of a speaker at a public meeting. While the Board does not comment on the specifics of litigation, it intends to defend against the claims in court.”
Boddy is a former member of the Lakota Board of Education.
They voted to declare her seat vacant after a 90-day absence in March, according to our news partner WCPO in Cincinnati.
