Woman tells police she’s walking her dog when pit bulls attack

DAYTON -- A 74-year-old woman told police two pit bulls attacked her and "Brownie" on Monday night while she was walking her beagle.

According to a Dayton police incident report, she said she was in the 1600 block of Academy Place with her 5-year-old beagle when the pit bulls jumped from an open window and rushed toward her.

She said the dogs knocked her down as she tried to protect her beagle, according to the incident report. She suffered a minor hand injury (finger) and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital.

Brownie suffered a cut to his left lower jaw.

Police said they could not find the owners of the pit bulls.
