Deputies: Man rescued from Harrison Twp. house fire intentionally set the blaze

HARRISON TWP. — UPDATE @ 11:21 a.m.:
Investigators believe that a man rescued from a Harrison Twp. fire house fire Thursday morning deliberately set the fire, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Firefighters initially reported that the man was in critical condition, but the sheriff’s office is reporting that he has non-life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff’s office is investigating reports that the man may be suicidal.

INITIAL REPORT:

A man is in critical condition at an area hospital after firefighters rescued him from a house fire in Harrison Twp. Thursday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to the home in the 300 block of East Nottingham Road, near North Main Street around 7 a.m. after a neighbor heard fire alarms going off in the house.

“I smell some sort of smoke and I hear an alarm going off and no one is responding,” neighbor Ryane Williams said in the 911 call.

“I went and knocked on the door. I just want to make sure they are OK,” Williams said.

Crews found a light haze in the house and later located a man suffering from smoke inhalation, investigators said.

The man was transported to Grandview Hospital where he is listed in critical condition, firefighters said.
