RIVERSIDE — Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will hold its annual First Flight ceremony today commemorating the Wright brothers’ first flight over a century ago.
A ceremony honoring the anniversary will kick off at 10:00 a.m. December 16 at Wright Brothers Memorial, located on Wright Memorial Hill near Area B, according to a press release.

The public event will feature Col. Christopher Meeker, 88th Air Base Wing and installation commander as the host of the ceremony.
Guest speakers include Brig. Gen. Jason Lindsey, program executive officer for Presidential and Executive Airlift at the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Air Force Material Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historic Park’s superintendent, Kendell Thompson, will present a presidential proclamation before the wreath-laying ceremony.
