WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will require masks while indoors on the base in response to guidance handed down today from the U.S. Department of Defense.
“In an effort to provide you with a safe and secure installation, Col. Patrick Miller, 88th Air Base Wing and installation commander, has reinstituted mandatory mask wear for all personnel while indoors, regardless of vaccination status,” the base said in a statement. “This is effective immediately and is in accordance with updated DOD guidance and the substantial transmission risk classification of our surrounding counties.”
The change comes just days after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control issued new guidance as the Delta COVID-19 variant spreads across the country.
The National Museum of the United States Air Force also announced it will require masks for all visitors beginning Friday.
The base said it is also asking people to maintain 6-foot physical distancing, good hygiene and maximize teleworking.
