DAYTON — Wright Patterson’s 88th Air Force Base Wing has welcomed Colonel Christopher Meeker as its new commander.
Meeker was previously overseas at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where he commanded the 86th Airlift Wing.
“The missions that happen on this base are incredibly impressive. The innovation and acceleration of modernizing our weapons systems, of modernizing our technology, our capabilities and how we develop our airmen across the Air Force, this is the center of all of that ... I’m so proud to be part of this,” Meeker said at a ceremony at the National Museum of the United State Air Force Base Thursday.
Meeker said this is the closest he has been stationed to his hometown in Illinois and had more than 30 family members in attendance Thursday.
He replaces Colonel Patrick Miller who led the Wing since June 2020.
Miller is headed to a new role in Hawaii.
