XENIA — A Xenia property that was once home to a rope manufacturing operation for more than a century has a new owner.

Xenia development director Steve Brodsky told News Center 7′s Gabrielle Enright that Memory Puzzle LLC has purchased the nearly 21-acre property along Cincinnati Avenue.

The property was once the site of the Hooven and Allison Cordage Company, who built the property in 1869.

When the company closed, buildings sat empty and were the scene of several major fires— including a fire that was ruled arson and destroyed most of the property in 2008.

Xenia purchased the property in 2011 and cleared the site with hopes of finding a buyer.

Last fall they were contacted by Memory Puzzles LLC, a cardboard company.

Brodsky said the company is looking to renovate the one remaining structure on the property and expand it.

The company told the city it plans to start its operations with 12 to 15 people.

There’s no word yet on when renovations to the property will start.
