Plans indicate that the restaurant would be open everyday until 10 p.m. and the comedy club would have shows scheduled four days a week, between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Chappelle spoke at the meeting on Tuesday and said he wants the project to help local talent.

“I’m not just trying to make a club, I’m trying to make a way. I’m trying to make a venue for our talents to be showcased, as well as my friends’ talents, so we can shine and be all the great things we can be in the world,” Chappelle said.

Crome described the club as “intimate.” It has an estimated capacity of 140. Chappelle said he did stand up in a similar sized club when he was starting in New York City. He said the greatest artists played and still play that club. In the meeting, Chappelle said the popular artists would come to Yellow Springs for this club.

“If we build this thing, I will tell you, all the greats will come. They’re very excited about it,” Chappelle said.
