Mercer County has the most cases per-capita in the state of Ohio, according to state data on August 4th. The county had 94 cases reported between July 21st and August 3rd. With a population of 40,806, that would equal 230 cases per 100,000 people, or .23% of the county population testing positive in the past two weeks.
Mercer County has been dealing with a spike in cases. Last week, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said that contact tracing showed that one gathering for a funeral in Coldwater and subsequent charity event in Celina resulted in dozens of new cases in mid-July, which may be contributing to the higher numbers Mercer County continues to see.
