Coronavirus: President Trump asks Georgia pastor to lead national day of prayer

President Donald Trump has called for a national day of prayer Sunday, and he asked a Georgia pastor to help him lead it.

The service will be held at Free Chapel Church in Gainesville, WSB-TV reported. Usually, there would be people starting to make their way to church for early morning service, but the parking lot is empty.

The service will be led by Jentezen Franklin, pastor of Free Chapel Church, the television station reported.

Many places of worship in Georgia are turning to online services to stop the spread of coronavirus.

On Saturday, Trump called for a national day of prayer.

He tweeted he will be tuning in to the service at Free Chapel Church at 11 a.m.

Earlier in the day Saturday, Gov. Brian Kemp issued a public health emergency for the first time in Georgia’s history.

The executive order will give health officials the power to quarantine Georgians exposed to the virus.

It will also allow authorities to restrict travel into the state and limit or cancel public gatherings, such as concerts and festivals.

“Avoiding large gatherings. Having church services go online. Stay at home,” Kemp said.
