TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. — A former Louisiana “trooper of the year” is behind bars on allegations that he made and shared child pornography, authorities said.

According to WWL-TV, Louisiana State Police Trooper Jason Boyet, 41, is on administrative leave after he was charged Wednesday with production and distribution of pornography involving juveniles, the agency said in a Facebook post.

"The investigation began as special agents developed information of a subject, later identified as Boyet, producing and distributing pornographic images on a web based application," the post said. "Through investigative means, agents identified Boyet as the online user and placed him into custody following an interview."

Another Facebook post from February 2018 identified Boyet as "trooper of the year" for Louisiana State Police Troop L.

Boyet is being held at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, authorities said.
