More jobs surrounding AI expertise, knowledge

There is speculation that artificial intelligence will eventually take over thousands of jobs currently performed by humans, but for now, the technology is creating a surge of new jobs.

Art Zeile the CEO of the DHI Group and employment website “DICE,” which specializes in jobs for technology workers, said many companies are looking for employees who understand AI.

Zeile said in the past years, he has seen technology industries, banks, and insurance companies all search for those with knowledge of the technology.

“We have roughly 5,000 artificial intelligence job opportunities on the platform today,” Zeile said.

Other sites like “DICE” have seen a similar boost.

According to LinkedIn, there has been a 21-fold increase in the number of job postings that mention AI technologies.

The DHI Group is looking to hire its own artificial intelligence experts because “DICE” uses AI to make employment matches,

“We’re constantly looking for machine learning engineers. Machine learning is effectively allowing the algorithms to constantly perfect themselves behind the scenes,” Zeile said.

Victoria Kortan is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer who was looking for a job earlier this year.

She said she had plenty of options before joining the DHI Group.

“There were a lot of open positions, a lot of recruiters reaching out…So it was a matter of sort of finding the right area that would be a good fit,” Kortan said.

The demand for experts like Kortan is expected to grow as AI is integrated into more industries.

“We will see a lot more engineering effort incorporating artificial intelligence into these business models, into the applications that are used by businesses, by consumers,” Zeile said.

Many AI-related jobs pay at least six figures and some corporations are offering AI executives a half million dollars a year, or more.

Discussion about the future of artificial intelligence has recently been on Capitol Hill as lawmakers have held several discussions about the future of AI.

Lawmakers have discussed what Congress’s role should be in regulating AI, but nothing has been decided.

The European Union created regulations for AI when passing the AI Act in June.
