A Louisiana man is accused of pointing a gun at his son’s head after the 9-year-old drank the last Dr Pepper in their home, authorities said.

Chad Lee Kinnaird, of West Monroe, was charged with domestic abuse battery endangerment of a child and violation of protective custody, KATC reported. Bail was set at $125,000, the television station reported.

According to a probable cause affidavit by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, on Dec. 28 Kinnaird became angry at his son for drinking the last soft drink. According to the affidavit, the boy claimed Kinnaird had been drinking, WWL-TV reported.

Kinnaird had a loaded handgun and pushed the barrel of the weapon against his son's head, according to the affidavit.

Kinnaird denied the allegations when deputies visited his home Wednesday, KATC reported. He allowed deputies to enter his home, and they found a .32-caliber handgun in a bedside nightstand, the television station reported.

Deputies arrested Kinnaird and booked him into the Ouachita Correctional Center, according to KATC.
