BOLIVAR, Mo. — A 4-year-old Missouri boy is recovering after police said his toddler brother accidentally shot him at a Bolivar home.
According to KYTV, the incident occurred Tuesday afternoon at a house on North Park Avenue. The younger boy, 2, grabbed a gun that had been left within his reach and fired the weapon, striking the older boy's abdomen, Bolivar police told the news station.
Crews rushed the 4-year-old to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable condition, the Bolivar Herald-Free Press reported.
Authorities said the boys' mother was at the house at the time of the shooting. Police are still investigating the incident, KYTV reported.
