TOLEDO, Ohio — An Ohio woman is accused of punching a supermarket employee and trying to steal nearly $500 worth of groceries, authorities said Monday.
Kendra Hunter, 40, of Toledo, was charged with robbery inflicting or threatening serious physical harm, WNWO reported. She was arraigned Monday morning in Toledo Municipal Court, the television station reported.
According to police, Hunter scanned $486 worth of groceries in a self-checkout lane at a Kroger supermarket in Toledo but did not pay for the items, WTOL reported.
When a Kroger employee attempted to stop Hunter from leaving the store, the woman allegedly punched the employee in the mouth and pushed the groceries out of the store, WNWO reported. According to police, Hunter then handed the groceries off to a man, who took them and fled the parking lot, the television station reported.
Hunter's bail was set at $50,000, WTOL reported. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 19.
