Ohio Task Force 1 to return home from rescue mission

Ohio Task Force 1 (OH-TF1) was officially demobilized Sunday morning and will be returning home from Florida’s Gulf Coast.

The rescue team was conducting missions in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, according to a press release from Ohio Task Force 1′s spokesperson.

OH-TF1 helped clean up the destruction in various different ways such as;

  • Rescued a handful of people from precarious situations
  • Evacuated dozens of people and pets
  • Checked on people who were sheltering in place
  • Assisted local officials in searching for missing persons
  • Conducted over 4500 house-by-house searches
  • Recorded data on structure damage and hazards for authorities

The rescue team’s safe arrival into Ohio has yet to be announced, the spokesperson said.
