Online or in-class: What area school districts are doing

Back to School 2020

With the world still facing a pandemic, local school districts have been trying to figure out the best way to resume classes for the fall semester. Some will be online only, some will be in-class only, and many will be a mix. Masks may be required, and many of the start dates have changed.

This list is organized alphabetically by county, and shows all of the districts for which we have information. If school officials have information on districts not listed here, or information that has changed since this list was created, they can contact our newsroom through their standard methods, or by e-mailing WHIO at newsdesk@cmgohio.com. Parents are encouraged to verify information with their schools, as information can change.

Auglaize

  • Minster: In-person 5 days a week OR online option for parents who don’t want child at school. Students in grades 3-12 are strongly encourages to wear masks and in come circumstances may be required to. Teachers are required to wear masks. Start date: Aug. 26.   • New Bremen: In-person 5 days a week OR online option for parents who don’t want child at school. Teachers required to wear masks, students in grades 3-12 strongly recommended. Start date: Sept. 8. Click here for more information from the school district.
  • St. Marys: In-person 5 days a week OR online option for parents who don’t want child at school. Students in grades K-12 are required to wear masks, per the Gov.‘s order. Start date: Aug. 25. Click here for more information from the school district.
  • Wapakoneta: In-person 5 days a week OR online option for parents who don’t want child at school. Masks required for staff and students. Start date: Aug. 25 Click here for more information from the school district.
  • Waynesfield-Goshen: In-person 5 days a week OR online option for parents who don’t want child at school. Students and staff required to wear masks. Start date: Sept. 2.

Champaign

  • Graham: In-person 5 days a week OR online option. Students and staff required to wear masks. Start date: Sept. 8. Click here for more information from the school district.
  • Mechanicsburg Exempted Village Schools: In-person 5 days a week. Students and staff required to wear masks. Start date: Aug. 24. Click here for more information from the school district.
  • Triad: In-person 5 days a week (subject to change to hybrid or remote based on county level) OR online option for parents who don’t want child at school. Student masks required in some instances, there are “masking zones.” Triad has a mask plan with levels detailing exceptions when social distancing is not possible. Start date: Aug. 20.   • Urbana: “District Flex Plan” (provides instruction based on pandemic status: In-person 5 days a week, hybrid format or remote) OR online option for parents who don’t want child at school. Staff & students are required to wear masks with specific mask breaks per district guidelines. Start date: Sept. 2. Click here for more information from the school district.

  • Beavercreek: In-person 5 days a week OR online option for parents who don’t want child at school. At this time, the only scenario in which the Beavercreek district would use an all online learning model would be if risk levels were elevated to purple. Staff required to wear masks, students are strongly encouraged to. Masks are required for students while on the bus. UPDATED Start date: Aug. 24, based on last name.   • Bellbrook-Sugarcreek: Online option OR a phased-in return of 50% of students with grades 1-12 returning Aug. 17 and other 50% returning Aug. 18. Student attendance at school will be staggered with a goal of 100% of students returning on a daily basis starting on Sept. 8. Masks for staff & students required. Start dates: Aug. 17-18.   • Cedar Cliff: In-person 5 days a week OR online option for parents who don’t want child at school. However, as level of county changes the in-person plan will adjust. Masks required for staff and students. Start date: Aug. 26. Click here for more information from the school district.
  • Fairborn: In-person 5 days a week OR online option for parents who don’t want child at school. Masks for staff & students required. UPDATED START DATE: Sept. 8 for students. The school year will last until June 3, 2021. Click here for more information from the school district.
  • Greeneview: In-person 5 days a week OR online option for parents who don’t want child at school. Masks for staff required. Masks for students K-12 required when on bus, in hallway and working with others. Start date: Aug. 25. Click here for more information from the school district.
