With the world still facing a pandemic, local school districts have been trying to figure out the best way to resume classes for the fall semester. Some will be online only, some will be in-class only, and many will be a mix. Masks may be required, and many of the start dates have changed.
This list is organized alphabetically by county, and shows all of the districts for which we have information. If school officials have information on districts not listed here, or information that has changed since this list was created, they can contact our newsroom through their standard methods, or by e-mailing WHIO at newsdesk@cmgohio.com. Parents are encouraged to verify information with their schools, as information can change.
Auglaize
- Minster: In-person 5 days a week OR online option for parents who don’t want child at school. Students in grades 3-12 are strongly encourages to wear masks and in come circumstances may be required to. Teachers are required to wear masks. Start date: Aug. 26. Student masks required in some instances, there are “masking zones.” Triad has a mask plan with levels detailing exceptions when social distancing is not possible. Start date: Aug. 20. At this time, the only scenario in which the Beavercreek district would use an all online learning model would be if risk levels were elevated to purple. - Bellbrook-Sugarcreek: Online option OR a phased-in return of 50% of students with grades 1-12 returning Aug. 17 and other 50% returning Aug. 18. - Jefferson Township: The district will offer online-only classes for the entire first semester, according to a report from the Dayton Daily News. Fall sports and extra-curricular activities were also cancelled to start the year. First day for students will be Sept. 8.
- Kettering: Kettering City Schools will begin school with remote learning for students during the first nine weeks of classes. The remote learning will be taught by Kettering City Schools teachers. There will be some small group meetings with students that need it. Extra curricular activities and sports will continue. Start date: Sept. 8.
- Mad River: The district has adopted an in-person hybrid model, dividing students into two cohorts; students with the last names A-K and L-Z. The groups will attend school every other day on a rotating Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule or Tuesday/Thursday. Masks are required for all students and staff. Start date: Sept. 8.
