MIAMI COUNTY — Miami County Fair organizers intend to operate as normal this year, but know things could change as regulations already have over the past two months.

$50,000 from the state is to go to health safety -- things like hand sanitizing stations, PPE and potential changes to restrooms, but some circumstances may still act as setbacks as organizers move into fair season.
Sponsorships are vital to the operation of the fair and this year some sponsors are likely to drop out while others may be asked to increase their donation to help the fair financially.
The fair has additionally held off in selling tickets for the planned concert as grandstand occupancy regulations are currently unknown.
Some amusement ride companies, too, have been impacted by COVID-19 and will not be operating at fairs this year.
Mandating touchless restroom facilities has been discussed at the state level and since repealed.
This would put a significant financial strain on the Miami County Fairgrounds if it were to be in place, as the fairgrounds has 100 bathrooms, 40 sinks and a few showers.
