Some crashes and slide-offs were reported during the Friday morning commute, however there are no significant crashes reported around 11:30 a.m.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has handled 17 crashes and assisted 154 drivers who needed help since midnight.
On Friday, AAA said it had 160 calls for service across its coverage area since midnight.
“Unfortunately about half of those calls are for extrications where the vehicle slid off the road,” said Kara Hitchens, spokeswoman for AAA Miami Valley. “Yesterday was a pretty light day given the weather. It seems maybe drivers were heeding the warning to stay off the roads.”
Dayton Police started operating under their Inclement Weather Policy Thursday afternoon, meaning officers were only responding to high priority calls. The City of Dayton also announced it plans to begin working on plowing residential streets around 4 p.m. Friday and continuing into Saturday.
