Fugitive accused of taking 10-month-old son is in custody, ending Amber Alert

UPDATE @ 7:45 p.m.: The U.S. Marshals Service is confirming that Robert Beane is in custody.

His non-custodial son is safe, authorities said.

UPDATE @ 4:46 p.m.

Robert Beane Sr. is still at large and authorities believe he has his 10-month-old son with him.

Beane crashed his car in the 2100 block of Mansfield Lucas Road and fled on foot, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.

The man who prompted an amber alert and has been accused of taking his son from a home in Lorain, Ohio is believed to be in Richland County.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, authorities are on the scene of a rollover crash they believe to be the vehicle of Robert Beane Sr.

The crash occurred at 1:15 p.m, in the 2100 block of Mansfield Lucas Road.

An Amber Alert has been issued for a 10-month-old boy abducted by his non-custodial father in Lorain, Ohio.

The child, Robert Beane Jr., is described as black, 2 feet tall, about 20 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, officials said.

A picture of the child was not immediately available.

The suspect, Robert Beane Sr., 27, is described as a black male, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

The vehicle the two are believed to be traveling in is a stolen, gray 2018 Chevrolet Camaro with Ohio license plate HAQ8308.

If you see either the suspect vehicle, suspect, or child, you are urged to contact 911 immediately.

Beane, the child’s non-custodial father, is considered armed and dangerous, according to officials.

Police said Beane pistol-whipped the child’s mother before abducting him Wednesday morning.

Lorain is about 30 miles west of Cleveland on Lake Erie.
