1 person in custody, production to resume at Honda Marysville plant

MARYSVILLE — One person is in custody tonight after a “situation” inside the Honda plant in Marysville.

A Honda representative said the incident involved a distraught contract worker and that it began around 3:30 p.m. That worker is the person taken into custody, the Honda spokesperson told our news partner 10tv.com WBNS in Columbus.

The incident led Honda to temporarily suspect production, which was to resume sometime by 8:15 p.m., WBNS reported.

A “distraught” contract worker at the Honda facility this evening in Marysville has led the facility to suspend production and go on lockdown.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office and Marysville Fire Department are among agencies on scene, our media partner 10tv.com WBNS reported.

A Honda representative told WBNS that the situation is contained at the auto plant. The representative also said the situation involves a contracted associate who is distraught.

Local law enforcement, negotiators and public safety officials are managing the situation, according to the Honda spokesperson.

Production has been suspended. The safety of workers was never at risk throughout the incident, Honda told WBNS.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office responded this evening to the Honda plant in Marysville.

The Marysville Fire Department reported that it also responded with its tactical medics and special response team, according to our media partner 10tv.com WBNS in Columbus.

Callers to our newsroom said there was a man with an ax inside the facility, and that he possibly has been apprehended, but authorities did not confirm those reports.

A Honda representative told WBNS information would be released shortly about the incident.
