UPDATE @ 8:00 p.m. (August 24):
The woman who stabbed an undercover officer Aug. 23 in west Columbus has been identified.
Donna G. Castleberry, 23, was taken to Grant Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, according to our news partner WBNS-TV in Columbus.
The officer was also taken to Grant Medical Center where he underwent surgery and remains in stable condition. His wound was so severe, another officer used a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.
When the undercover officer, who was working prostitution complaints, attempted to take a female suspect into custody inside his unmarked vehicle, an altercation occurred.

When additional officers responded to the scene, they found the undercover officer had been stabbed in the hand and fired his gun multiple times from inside his vehicle, shooting the suspect, WBNS reported.
A knife was recovered from the scene, police say.

The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. in west Columbus when the undercover officer was stabbed while working on a case, our news partner WBNS-TV in Columbus reports.

The woman was shot several times and was transported to a Columbus-area hospital where she later died, police told the station.

The injured officer, who was not identified, was also transported to a local hospital and was taken into surgery. The officer is in stable condition, police said.
