4 employees on leave after 2 Lima inmates escape in dumpster

ALLEN COUNTY — Four employees have been placed on administrative leave after two inmates escaped from the Allen/Oakwood Correctional Institution.

Bradley Gillespie, 50, and James Lee, 47, are said to have escaped Tuesday from the Allen/Oakwood Correctional Institution.

It was determined they exited the prison after concealing themselves in a dumpster, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction.

Ohio State Highway Patrol was later informed Tuesday evening that the two were believed to be driving a Mercury Capri stolen out of Auglaize County, according to a media release.

The chase ended with Lee in custody but Gillespie ran from officers.

The four people on leave are:

  • Carl Bendross, Major
  • Tre’mon Glenn-Crawford, Correction Officer
  • Lain Patterson, Correction Officer
  • Taylor Robey, Correction Officer

They are each prohibited from entering the AOIC without approval while on leave.

A criminal investigation is ongoing by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and as well as an internal investigation by ODRC.

Bradley Gillespie remains at large.
