Funeral plans announced for Cincinnati-area officer killed in crash

SPRINGFIELD TWP., HAMILTON COUNTY — Funeral plans have been announced for a Cincinnati-area officer killed in a crash early Friday morning.

Springfield Twp. Officer Tim Unwin, a two-year veteran of the department, was identified as the officer killed in the line of duty, Springfield Twp. Police Chief Rick Bley said during a news conference Friday morning.

Unwin was 31-years-old.

A second driver, identified as William Dunson, 50, of Cincinnati, was also killed in the crash, according to police and the coroner’s office.

A public visitation for Officer Unwin will take place Wednesday, April 5, at Spring Grove Funeral Home at the 11000 block of Princeton Pike from 5 p.m.-8 p.m.

The funeral is scheduled for Thursday morning, April 6, at 10 a.m. at the same location, according to our news partner WCPO in Cincinnati.

The procession will begin at 11 a.m. from the funeral home and end at The Arlington Memorial Gardens Cemetery at the 2100 block of Compton Road in Cincinnati.

“No matter the length of time you knew Tim, he left a lasting impression, mostly because of his infectious smile,” said Springfield Township Police Chief Rick Bley. “The Springfield Township Police Department is thankful to his family for sharing him with us the past two years.”

The Springfield Township Police Department will release any visitation and funeral arrangements for Dunson if the family wishes to so, WCPO reports.

Dunson would have turned 51-years old on Monday.
