CINCINNATI — Vice President Kamala Harris discussed the importance of improving public transit while visiting Cincinnati to promote President Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan.

At a roundtable event on Friday, Harris put an emphasis on expanding and improving public transit.

“When I think about it, good transit equals vibrant communities,” Harris said.

Harris told the roundtable that the proposed plan should be thought of as “an investment in job creation, an investment improving communities and investment in improving access to opportunity.”

The proposed infrastructure plan would put billions of dollars into improving bus systems in cities across the country, as well as bridges, but Harris did not make any announcement of new funding towards replacing bridges like the Brent Spence Bridge.

Last year, a crash and fire caused the bridge, which carries I-75 over the Ohio River, to shut down for repairs.
