Last 2 escaped longhorns captured, safe in Butler County

FAIRFIELD TWP. — Two of the three Texas Longhorns that escaped their pasture in Fairfield Township have been captured.

“Hee Haw, mission accomplished, and all three steers are rounded up and safe,” Fairfield Township Police wrote on social media. “Great work by all those volunteers with the skill set to make this happen!”

News Center 7 previously reported that all three got loose Sunday night from their pasture in the 7800 block of Morris Road in Fairfield Township.

Fairfield Twp. police had urged residents and drivers to use caution in the area of Morris Road, Hamilton-Mason Road, Tylersville Road, and Bypass Route 4 as officials worked to capture the escaped cattle.

The owner said his neighbor wanted to show the animals to his grandchildren.

While they were looking at the cows, something spooked them and they jumped the fence and ran off into the woods.

The last two were reported in custody just after 6 p.m. Tuesday night.
