UPDATE @ 7:53 a.m.
The female pedestrian who was struck by a truck was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sgt. Chris Colbert, with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Colbert said the female was walking northbound on Maple when she was hit. She was wearing dark clothing in the unlit area when she was struck, he said.
“It would be difficult to see someone in time to actually react to it,” Colbert said.
The crash remains under investigation, Colbert said. He said it’s “too early to say” if the driver will be charged.
“We don’t have any reason to suspect drugs or alcohol” are involved, Colbert said.
