Woman suffers serious injuries in Champaign Co. crash

Deputies said a woman was taken by CareFlight after suffering serious injuries in a crash in Champaign County Monday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the intersection of state routes 235 and 55 on a reported serious crash with entrapment around 6:10 a.m. Monday.

Deputies said a preliminary investigation found one vehicle traveling on state Route 55 ran a stop sign at the intersection and slammed into the other traveling south on state Route 235.

The woman in the vehicle that ran the stop sign suffered serious head injuries and was taken by CareFlight to an unknown hospital.

One adult and three juveniles were in the other vehicle and also suffered injuries. The woman driver was transported by ambulance for treatment of unknown injuries while the three juveniles were treated and released on the scene.

Deputies did not indicate any factors that might have contributed to the crash.

CareFlight has been requested to the scene of a serious crash at the intersection of state routes 235 and 55 in Champaign County.

Crews were dispatched around 6:10 a.m. and have reported at least one person trapped and multiple people injured in two vehicles.
