TOLEDO, Ohio — A teen is facing a murder charge after authorities said he shot and killed a 74-year-old man while firing at police officers in Ohio.
According to WTOL and the Toledo Blade, the drive-by shooting occurred about 10 p.m. Wednesday outside a Mobil gas station in Toledo. Toledo police said the 15-year-old boy was inside a passing vehicle when he opened fire at officers who had stopped a suspect in the parking lot, the news outlets reported.
Although the officers were not harmed, a bystander, John Toyer Jr., 74, was struck and killed, police said.
Officers pursued the vehicle, which had been stolen, and apprehended the suspect, according to the news outlets.
The boy, who also faces charges of assault on a police officer, remains in the Lucas County Juvenile Detention Center, authorities said.
