SANGER, Calif. — A man and woman are in custody after lighting a California man on fire during a Thursday night argument, according to the Sanger Police Department.
Patricia Castillo, 48, and Leonard Hawkins, 43, both of Sanger, were booked into the Fresno County Jail on attempted murder, arson and conspiracy charges after police say Castillo poured gasoline on the unidentified victim and lit him on fire, CBS News reported.
According to police, surveillance video shows Castillo approaching the victim in Sanger Park at around 8:30 p.m. and dousing him with liquid from a cup, KFSN-TV reported.
Castillo and the victim then appear to argue before Castillo sparks a lighter and sets the victim ablaze, the TV station reported.
Investigators determined that Hawkins provided the accelerant to Castillo, CBS News reported.
According to KFSN, the victim is being treated at an area hospital for severe burns but is expected to survive.
