FORDYCE, Ark. — Four people were killed and multiple people were injured in a shooting Friday at a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas.
Fourth person dies; victims identified
Update 10:38 p.m. EDT June 22: Officials with the Arkansas State Police announced that 81-year-old Ellen Shrum, 81, died on Saturday, KARK-TV reported. She was the fourth fatality in the shooting at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas.
Three victims died on Friday, according to the television station. They were identified earlier Saturday as Callie Weems, a 23-year-old nurse at Dallas County Medical Center who left behind a 10-month-old daughter; Shirley Kay Taylor, 63; and Roy Sturgis, 50, of Kingsland.

Update 11:40 a.m. EDT June 22: The suspect was identified by Arkansas State Police as Travis Eugene Posey, 44. He has been charged with three counts of capital murder. Other charges are pending.
Fourteen people were injured in the shooting. Three were killed and 11 were civilians, police said. Two of the 14 were police officers.
Update 8:34 p.m. EDT June 21: President Joe Biden has been briefed on the shooting, the White House said, according to The Associated Press.
Update 6:15 p.m. EDT June 21: Arkansas Department of Public Safety Director Mike Hagar said during a news conference that the conditions of the civilians shot ranged from “not life-threatening to extremely critical,” according to The Associated Press.
“It’s tragic, our hearts are broken,” Hagar said, according to the AP.
It’s not clear if the shooting happened inside or outside the grocery store.
Update 5:21 p.m. EDT June 21: Arkansas State Police in a news conference Friday said that 11 civilians were shot and three people were killed in the shooting, according to KARK.
Two officers were also shot. Both have non-life-threatening injuries, police say, according to KATV.
The shooter’s injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening, according to The New York Times.
The conditions of those injured have not been released.
Original story: Arkansas State Police said that the shooting happened at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, according to The Associated Press. The shooting happened around 11:30 a.m.
Police said that there was a total of nine victims. Of the nine, two were killed, KATV reported. Police also said that an officer was shot but is expected to recover.
Police said that the shooter is in critical condition after they were shot by officers, the AP reported. The suspect is in custody, according to KATV.
“I am thankful to law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic action to save lives,” Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on X, formerly known as Twitter. “My prayers are with the victims and all those impacted by this.”
The names of the victims have not yet been released. Police have also not yet identified the suspect.
The grocery store is located in a shopping center by a Dollar General, Family Dollar and a Tractor Supply Co., KARK reported.
