Mimieux portrayed “delicate, fragile” women as she starred in movies like “The Time Machine,” “Where the Boys Are” and “Light in the Piazza,” The New York Times reported.
Mimieux also appeared on television, appearing in “The Most Deadly Game” from 1970-71 and a primetime soap in 1985 called “Berrenger’s” on NBC, Variety reported. She also appeared on “The Love Boat” and made her last appearance in the 1992 NBC TV movie “Lady Boss,” Variety reported.
Mimieux had a total of 50 acting credits to her name, and earned two Golden Globe nominations, one for 1960′s “Platinum High School” and the other for an appearance on TV’s “Dr. Kildare” in 1964, People Magazine reported.
In 1964, Mimieux became what is believed to be the first actress to show her navel on television in the U.S. when she guest-starred on “Dr. Kildare,” The Hollywood Reporter reported.
Mimieux leaves behind her husband, Howard Ruby, as well as her sister, her brother, and five stepchildren, The New York Times reported.
