The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden announced over the past weekend that they adopted a puppy friend from the Animal Rescue Fund Inc. for its newborn cheetah cub, Rozi.

The puppy is named Daisy and according to the Animal Rescue Fund Inc., she is a shepherd mix. The rescue also has her five-liter mates available for adoption.

People Magazine says the new puppy adoption is part of the zoo’s Cat Ambassador Program (CAP). Daisy and Rozi will be joining other cheetahs in that program that have grown up together.

The Cincinnati Zoo welcomed Rozi, the cheetah cub, last month with a sweet video and news release.

“We liked Rozi because it means rose (or flower) in Swahili, one of the languages spoken in the cub’s native land, and because she was born in the spring. It’s also a nod to the beautiful botanical garden that will be her backyard as she grows up here,” said Cat Ambassador Program (CAP) lead trainer Linda Castañeda in a news release.

The Cincinnati Zoo says that Rozi wasn’t able to be cared for by her mother at the Wildlife Safari Zoo in Oregon, so she was relocated to Cincinnati.

The Cincinnati Zoo says Daisy and Rozi have not yet been introduced but will be meeting soon.
