“Adi” was released by Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control to her former owner years ago. That person is at the center of a Boynton Beach police animal cruelty investigation, WPEC reported.
“I understand what I did was not right and I regret it and it’s a life lesson and the dog is not injured, the dog loves me to death and I love her to death, so it’s a situation I have to deal with,” the owner told WPBF.
The man said he was upset because Adi had gotten loose and ignored commands to come. He caught up with her when she stopped to greet a smaller dog.
“There’s no question I was wrong for what I did, but they didn’t understand the circumstances,” he said about the person who recorded the incident.
Adi was taken back into custody of the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control. She was shaved to check for bruising. A welfare check was conducted on the other animals under the man’s care.
Investigator Liz Roehrich said the other two dogs at the house, aged 11 and 13, appeared to be fine, WINK reported. They were not removed from the home.
Adi was reunited with two of her puppies, who had also been adopted by the family.
