Dillard’s annual New Year’s Day sale, a favorite with customers of the retailer, won’t be happening this year, according to the company.
The sale, which features an extra percentage off already reduced items, is so popular that it became a topic on several social media sites recently.
After customers began to question whether the sale was on amid COVID-19 fears and employee shortages in some retail locations, the company said in a tweet that the sale was off for this year.
“Dillard’s has thousands of newly reduced prices and incredible deals to shop that we hope you will enjoy, but we will not be having an additional discount on permanently reduced merchandise,” the department store tweeted on its official Twitter account.
The company has also posted signs in some Dillard’s stores telling customers the traditional sale won’t be happening this year.
The signs read: “We will not be having our annual % New Year’s Day sale January 1st. Thousands of dollars in new markdowns can be found throughout the store.”
The retailer is currently holding an “After Christmas” sale for a limited time. Dillard’s has 285 stores across the country.
