NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Kyle Jacobs, the husband of country music singer Kellie Pickler, has died at the age of 49.

Jacobs appeared in a CMT docuseries with Pickler called “I Love Kellie Pickler,” according to CNN.

Jacobs and Pickler married in 2011, according to CMT.

Jacobs took his own life at the house that he shared with Pickler on Friday, according to CNN.

Nashville Department of Emergency Communications in a statement from police obtained by CMT, had gotten a call just after 1 p.m. Friday from the entertainers’ house. When officers arrived, Nashville Fire Department had located Jacobs deceased with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Pickler told Nashville Police Department that she had woken up, could not find Jacobs, and went looking for him. According to a statement obtained by CNN, Pickler and her assistant had tried to get into the upstairs bedroom and office. Pickler’s assistant called 911.

Jacobs worked with country artists including Kelly Clarkson, Garth Brooks, Darius Rucker, and Tim McGraw, according to CNN. Jacobs also won an Academy of Country Music Award in 2014 for producing Lee Brice’s “I Drive Your Truck.”

Jacobs has also been nominated for a Grammy award, according to People Magazine.

Pickler was in Season 5 of “American Idol,” which led her to a country music singing career that included becoming a television personality, according to CNN.
