VICCO, Ky. — A Kentucky man is accused of killing one of his children and wounding another in a shooting at a Vicco home Wednesday, authorities said.
According to WTVQ and WYMT, David Hampton, 36, of Vicco, is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and wanton endangerment in connection with the incident, which occurred about 10:30 a.m. at a Montgomery Creek Road home.
Kentucky State Police said Hampton shot the children, both younger than 15, who then fled to the home of a relative living next door, WYMT reported. One child died from his injuries, while the other was being treated at a nearby hospital, authorities said.
Police arrested Hampton, who remains in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
