Miss America 2023 has been crowned and she’s Miss Wisconsin Grace Stanke.
The Miss America pageant was held Thursday night at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, People magazine reported.
She is the organization’s 95th winner, USA Today reported.
Stanke is a nuclear engineering student who attends the University of Wisconsin and performed on the violin during the talent portion of the pageant. She won a talent scholarship for her performance, pageant officials said in a news release.
In all, Stanke won $68,900 in scholarships through state and Miss America competitions.
Miss New York Taryn Delanie Smith was the first runner-up and Miss Texas Averie Bishop was the second runner-up.
Rounding out the top 11 were:
- Miss West Virginia Elizabeth Wench
- Miss Georgia Kelsey Hollis
- Miss Nevada Heather Renner
- Miss Hawaii Lauren Teruya
- Miss Oregon Sophia Takla
- Miss Ohio Elizabetta Nies
- Miss Indiana Elizabeth Hallal
- Miss Illinois Monica Mia Jones (chosen by voters in America)
The pageant was live streamed as a pay-per-view event at a cost of $39.99, NJ.com reported. It was not broadcast on standard television as in years past.
Stanke will use her year representing the country “to continue advocating for Clean Energy, Cleaner Future. She believes that America needs to convert to zero-carbon energy sources and her social impact focuses on breaking down misconceptions surrounding nuclear power,” pageant officials said.
