PINE GROVE, Pa. — A Pennsylvania man has been charged with first- and third-degree murder in connection with his grandmother’s death last month, authorities said.
Kalvin Clark, 32, of Pine Grove, is accused in the Jan. 23 death of Sharon Zimmerman in Pine Grove, WNEP reported. He is being held in Schuylkill County Prison on $250,000 cash bail, the Lehighton Times News reported.
Clark originally faced charges of aggravated assault and simple assault, the Patriot-News of Harrisburg reported.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Clark told troopers that he got into an argument with his grandmother, WNEP reported. As the pair struggled, Clark said he put his hand in Zimmerman’s mouth and gave her a “fishhook,” according to court documents. Zimmerman then slipped at the top of the steps, falling halfway down,the Times News reported.

Clark said he pulled his grandmother up, but the woman fell, the newspaper reported. Clark allegedly left Zimmerman lying on the ground overnight, WNEP reported.
Clark allegedly told troopers he took his grandmother’s phone to keep her from calling the police, according to court documents.
By the time he tried to place her in the shower the next morning, he told police her body was cold to the touch.
When police arrived at the home on Sunday afternoon, Zimmerman was dead.
WNEP reported that Zimmerman was found with bruises all over her body and had a “substantial facial injury.”
