PURCHASE, N.Y. — Say Peepsi, please?
That is the latest concoction in a joint effort between Pepsi and Peeps -- a product featuring the venerable soft drink combined with the Easter candy favorite to produce a marshmallow-flavored soda.
In a news release on Thursday, PepsiCo. announced “Pepsi x Peeps,” a three-pack of 7.5-ounce cans that will be available through online sweepstakes.
Fans who want to try the drink can enter the contest by posting photographs on their Twitter or Instagram accounts with the hashtag, #HangingWithMyPEEPS. Contestants can also mail in an entry, PepsiCo said.
A prompt in the contest, which began Thursday, directed participants to share the photos “in a safe, socially distant manner.”
The mini-cans will be featured in bright yellow and blue.
“After what has been a very difficult year, many consumers are looking for new things to smile about,” Todd Kaplan, Pepsi’s vice president of marketing, said in the news release. “So, to celebrate the start of springtime, Pepsi collaborated with Peeps to develop a limited batch of its first-ever marshmallow cola.
“We know our consumers love our limited product drops, and we believe that Pepsi x Peeps will deliver an iconic and delicious pairing that has the potential to become a fan favorite.”
“The Peeps brand always finds great joy in teaming up with partners to bring our beloved Marshmallow flavor to fans in new and exciting ways, which is why we’re thrilled to collaborate with Pepsi on this limited-edition Pepsi x Peeps beverage leading up to the Easter holiday,” Caitlin Servian, Peeps brand manager, said in a news release. “We look forward to seeing how fans express their ‘Peepsonality’ as part of the #HangingWithMyPEEPS sweepstakes and hope they enjoy this sweet new cola offering.”
