The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced the recall of more than 59,000 child car seats.
The car seat anchors which connect to the seat’s base may fail, causing the seats to detach, the NHTSA said in a news release.
The recall involves 59,450 of the following devices made by the Dorel Juvenile Group:
- Safety 1st onBoard 35 Secure Tech
- Maxi-Cosi Coral XP
- Maxi-Cosi Mico XP Max
- Maxi-Cosi Mico XP
- Maxi-Cosi Mico Luxe+
- Maxi-Cosi Infant Base
The car seats were made between May 1, 2022, and Feb. 28, 2023, the NHTSA said.
Owners of the recalled car seats are being told to use the seats with the vehicle belt restraint system until they receive a replacement base free from Dorel.
The company will be sending letters to owners next month.
