Ford Motor Company is telling dealers to pause the delivery of Mustang Mach-E crossover vehicles because of an issue that could make them come to a stop.
The temporary stoppage affects 2021 and 2022 vehicles built from May 27, 2020, through May 24, 2022, in Cuautitlan, Mexico, CNBC reported.
The high-voltage battery main contactors can overheat and could make the car lose power while it’s in motion, Bloomberg reported. It also may not start.
The issue is being corrected by a software update that can be received over the air or by going to a dealer.
Bloomberg said dealers can still sell the vehicles but they can’t hand them over to buyers until the issue is fixed.
The company hopes to push out the updates in July but they may come out later in the third quarter, the Detroit Free Press reported.
The recall affects about 49,000 of the nearly 100,000 Mach-Es produced, a Ford spokesperson told CNBC.
