Texas deputies confiscate $700K found inside 18-wheeler

HARLINGEN, Texas — Deputies in Texas’ southernmost county confiscated approximately $700,000 in cash found inside an 18-wheel truck, authorities said Saturday.

The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office stopped the tractor-trailer for a traffic violation, KVEO reported. Deputies deployed a K9 to the vehicle, and the animal alerted investigators to the tractor-trailer’s sleeping compartment, the television station reported.

Upon inspection, investigators found more than $700,00 in cash stashed in the vehicle, according to KVEO. The sheriff’s office did not reveal the exact amount of cash found, the television station reported.

Deputies confiscated the money and have launched an investigation. Charges are pending, the sheriff’s office told KVEO.
