ITALY, Texas — A woman in Italy, Texas, is facing capital murder charges after three children were found dead and two others seriously injured in a house on Friday.
Shamaiya Dyonshana Hall, 25, was arrested Friday after investigators found the three children deceased and two injured inside a house in Italy, Texas, according to KTVT.
In a news release, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said that on Friday a child protective services worker went to the 300 block of Harris Street for a home visit. During the video, the worker decided to remove the children from the house. This is close to when the worker called 911 around 4 p.m.
Italy Police Department officers arrived at the house around five minutes later and the officer found five children who were critically injured. The sheriff’s office said that three children were dead inside the house -- a 6-year-old boy, and 5-year-old twins, a boy and a girl.
The two other children who were seriously injured were taken to an area hospital. The sheriff’s office identified them as a 4-year-old boy and a 13-month-old girl.
Hall was arrested shortly after investigators transported the two children to the hospital, according to KTVT.
The news outlet reported that it remains unclear what Hall’s relationship was with the children. It is also unclear if the children were stabbed.
Hall has been charged with three counts of capital murder and is being held on a $2 million bond for each charge, according to Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.
Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said they are the lead investigating agency on the case and the Texas Department of Public Safety-Texas Rangers are assisting them.
“We ask for you to keep the family, the community of Italy, and first responders in your thoughts and prayers during this tragic time,” the sheriff’s office said.
Italy is located about 40 miles south of downtown Dallas.
