According to Elizabethtown Police spokesperson Chris Denham, a 72-year-old woman was transported to a hospital in Louisville, where she later died, WAVE-TV reported.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Denham told the television station. “It’s certainly very windy out here and I’m certain that did have a factor and was involved in this.”

Wind gusts up to 50 mph hit the area at 1:30 p.m. EST, WLKY-TV reported.

Police have not revealed the identity of the victims. The other victims had injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, according to the television station. They were taken to an area hospital, WLKY reported.

However, Amy Nichols told WDRB-TV that the woman who died was her grandmother, Lillian Curtis. She said her grandmother was in the back seat of the vehicle.

Nichols said her grandfather, Lloyd Curtis, who was in the front passenger seat, had been released from a Louisville hospital after having open heart surgery, according to the television station. Nichols said her mother, Mary Graham, was driving the vehicle and “sustained a chest injury but is OK.”

Denham said the vehicle’s occupants had to be removed by the Elizabethtown Fire Department and Hardin County EMS, WAVE reported.
